So I have been seeing these Christmas banners everywhere. I think they are really cute and one would look perfect on my mantel or even over my doorway. I just couldn’t see spending the money on them when I knew I could make them.
What you will need:
- white and brown card stock
- stamp ink
- stamps or/and cutouts
- string
- foam brush
- distress ink
The first thing you are going to want to do is figure out which word or phrase you are going to use. I went with believe! To make things easy lets say everyone went with believe. Cut out your white card stock 4″ x 4″ until you get 7 squares.
If you have big enough stamps this next part will be a lot easier. I didn’t so I used my cricut and cut out my letters on vinyl. Center one letter on each of the card stock pieces. I used some painters tape to cover the edges of my card stock.
Take your foam brush and use it to transfer your ink

onto your paper. I am not going to lie. This process takes a long time. It took me about an hour to do all of my letters but it was worth it.
I had
some stamps stuffed in my craft closet that I used to decorate the corners. I only used 2 different designs and moved them around to make them look a little different on each corner.
Take your distress ink and go over the edges of each square to give them a little bit of an antique look. I am still working on perfecting this so if anyone has any ideas let me know.
Take your brown card stock and cut it 5″ x 5″ and glue to the back of each letter. Punch 2 holes in the top corners and run your string through each one and hang.
Everything that I needed for this project I already had. So the total cost (money wise) for this project was a grand total of $0!!
